Combining elements from battle royale, MOBA, and the survival genres, Eternal Return is a game designed with a broad audience in mind. The game takes place on a deserted island, where an organization known as AGLAIA is busy conducting shady experiments on humans in order to turn them into super humans. These test subjects are the game’s characters. Players compete in matches of up to 18 players, either in solo mode or with friends in the battle royale standard fight to be the last one standing. In addition to getting the combat basics down, players have other things to learn to make the best use of, such as being able to teleport across the map, or crafting important items. Crafting is very important in Eternal Return, allowing players to improve their gear and their chances of survival. The game also offers players flexibility, allowing them to create custom games for as many or as few people as they like. This feature is designed with esports in mind.
